You need a quiet place where you will not be disturbed by siblings or normal household activities.Some say they can study better with music on, but are really creating a distraction for themselves. Studying is more efficient and comfortable when you find a well lit area that is quiet too.
You do not want to strain your eyes trying to read, it will only give you a headache. Do not study in a garage or down in an unfinished basement as these locations can even distract you on a subconscious level. Many study locations work for some people but it is recommended that you stay indoors. When it is nice outside, the fresh air is great but the sun, fresh air , maybe friends going by can all become a distraction and break much needed focus. Besides distractions , possibly napping, running into friends, you may just spur ideas of things that you think have to be done like washing your car, calling your partner, texting a friend.
Where you choose to study has been shown to be the utmost importance. It should be well lit and well ventilated, with nothing to stimulate your senses at all. A little stimulation from caffeine can be helpful but taken too much , detrimental. An important tip is not to study multiple subjects simultaneously. Some students get mixed up taking tests after they study multiple subjects at the same time.
Improving Your study habits and improving focus and concentration early is important as it will actually be easier to accomplish more. Good Study Habits are easy to develop when you master concentration and focus. Start good habits now and enjoy the success it will bring in your profession.
