Know More About What The Scholastic Aptitude Test Is All About

For the continuous efforts of enhancing a student’s ability once they enter College, more and more educational programs are conducted and formalized to make sure that there will be an increase or improvement for every College freshman each school year. Now with the presence of the SAT, or more commonly known as Scholastic Aptitude Test, more students are given a higher chance of having better knowledge and being prepared once they enter into the College level.

SAT, or what is now known to be the SAT Reasoning Test, is a standardized examination taken by every student in the United States before they enter College. SAT is owned and developed by the College Board, a non-profit organization that aims to help future College students to be prepared through an examination given to them testing whether they are ready for College or not.

The Scholastic Aptitude Test is divided into three main categories, namely the Critical Reading, Mathematics and the Writing section. The Critical Reading part includes 3 subparts, two of which are a 25-minute section and the other is a 20-minute section. The Critical Reading mostly involves sentence completions and questions on reading passages Next is the Mathematics part which is also divided into 3 subsections: two 25-minute sections and one 20-minute section. In order to save time, students are now allowed to use calculators in solving the problems faster than with computing it manually. Lastly is the Writing part, which is divided into 2 subparts: 1 multiple choice and the other is the essay writing portion. The essay covers 30% of the total score of the Writing section, while 70% goes to the multiple choice part. The writing section is formulated to be able to test the student’s writing skills.

There is a more meaningful explanation why the SAT exam has arrived at these three main categories. The Critical Reading is included for the purpose of testing as well as enhancing the student’s vocabulary. The Mathematics sections, which is also known as Quantitative or Calculation Section is provided to test the students skill in calculating, problem solving and analysis. The Writing part, which was already stated earlier, is included to test and measure the student’s writing skills.

It will take three hours and forty-five minutes to finish the SAT exam. Although it usually takes longer, more than 4 hours because of added procedures such as preparation and distribution of materials, orientation and filling out forms. At the present, you have to pay to be able to sit the Scholastic Aptitude Test.

There has been some issues accompanied with the need to take the SAT for future College students, including the price needed to pay as a fee. Since it has already been approved and finalized, the exam is taken by all College aspirants in the United States. It is constantly showing improvement with regards to a students capability of entering College and surviving with flying colors.
