Make a list of all the things you’ve already accomplished. Which of those attributes make you stand out among your peers? How can you use this information to achieve your goals? What positive qualities do you currently exude that you can build on? Catch yourself when you make a comment about what you can’t do and greet each new opportunity with an “I can” attitude.

3. Give Back. Are you currently searching for volunteer opportunities to pad your internship application? You might be surprised when you find a boost in your self esteem after spending a day with someone who needs your assistance. Putting focus on someone other than yourself can clear your head of pessimism.

4. Hang Out With Positive People. Join an organization that is in line with your values and goals. Make sure it can offer a positive environment for learning something new. Gravitate towards upbeat people who can keep you focused on your goals and stay clear of negative people who may drag you down and zap your energy.
