What are the best (or Top 5) undergrad International Business programs in the nation?

Tuesday Jan 13, 2009

I'm going to college next year, and I want to know which US colleges/universities have the best and most prestigious International Business Administration programs

MIT and Michigan are great. But overall, UC Berkeley (aka Haas School of Business) is the best choice, since the school is not just about strong academics, but also allows you to develop your inner most interests beyond what any other school in the nation offers.

You can even invent your own major under their interdisciplinary studies department: You can create a hybrid major of International Business with something else you enjoy.

Check out the U.S. Universities ranking link I attached. It's of the best business grad schools, and although it is not for undergraduate studies, it is nonetheless a strong indicator of the overall quality of its department. And don't take my word for inventing majors at Berkeley, either; I also attached a link.
Good luck!

What classes should I take Senior Year to go to a top school?

Sunday Jan 11, 2009

I am a junior who aspires to go to a top business college such as Penn, Virginia, etc. I have taken AP World, US, and Physics B. How many AP Classes should I take in order to have the greatest chance of getting into a school like Penn. I am thinking about some combination of AP Physics C, AP Calc AB or BC, AP Economics, AP Euro, and AP Psychology. Which of these will look the best in the eyes of admissions officers, and how many should I take? Also, there is a class Advanced Marketing which seems like a good business class to prepare but it is not a rigorous AP course, and I would probably have to cut out an AP to take it. Should I take the class? Thanks for your help.

Take as many AP classes as you can — especially in math and the sciences. I doubt that the marketing class will help you — especially if it means taking one less AP class. You can always take a marketing class in college.

What colleges are good for business and computer sciences?

Friday Jan 9, 2009

I am starting the process into looking for colleges and I was just wondering what in your opinion are the top schools for business and computer sciences? Do you think any are easier to get into being a female?

UW-Madison!

Hahaa, okay, I am only saying that because I go there. But they do have a good business school and computer science.

Of course, Harvard, Stanford and MIT are a lot better.

I’m a female myself and yes, I think it is easier to get into a college because you’re a female. They want to try and have more females going to college. Or so I heard.

Is it possible for a student to get accepted into top b-school after going to average college for undergrad?

Wednesday Jan 7, 2009

For example, when students finish high school, they may not be great enough at all subjects to get into Harvard. However, after going to an average college, and they excell in business classes because that is what they are good at, then they can get into a top business school or not?

Absolutely. (It's usually much cheaper to go to an avg. undergrad school, too.)

I did this with law school.

i want to become a business man but i dont know which school to go to?

Monday Jan 5, 2009

i am currently still attending high school and still got few more years
i live in los Angeles, California
what are the top colleges for business?
in USA?
in California? UCLA? UC Berkley?
thank you

I can tell you from experience that being a successful business man is not tied to a particular school subject.. Probably the easiest degree to obtain is one in Business.. it is all text book and instruction.. it is a pass or fail course that is usually taught by someone who is really good at teaching business courses but has no clue as to what part it plays in everyday business life.. usually they give you a chapter to read and then have an open book test.. you will learn some principles of business and will be required to take accounting and economics in order to gain a business degree.. I personally think it is 8th grade stuff.. however.. as with 8th or 9th grade typing.. it does have it's value.. go ahead and study the business courses and pay particular attention to the principles of management and economics along with basic accounting.. then add in some liberal arts classes so that you can learn values of arts and writing.. get yourself some classes in psychology and sociology… by doing this you will have a much more rounded education of the different peices of the puzzle that makes up business.. communications and persuasion are a big part of it also.. In business you need to be well rounded.. you will need information about marketing.. not advertising but marketing.. marketing drives advertising, psychology teaches you how to relate to others and sociology provides understanding of how to manage people… in the business world you will find a high level of competition.. and you need to be good to be successful…. and one final piece of advice.. narrow your focus.. to a specific part of the business world.. find the nich that best suits you and your ambitions..then be better prepared than anyone else.. some knowledgeable old cogger once wrote.. success is the residue of preparation… try to attain a broad knowledge.. and learn how to use your knowledge.. you do that.. you will be successful..
