I know of a few colleagues that are taking post graduate courses with Phoenix University. Apparently PU has a decent reputation.

My situation is a bit different….25 years in IT with progressive successes to executive level. I have two years at a community college (1980). I was told several years ago that the courses were too old (BAL programming etc) to transfer credits.

So, if I was to restart my education where would you recommend I look? I'd like to get as much "credit" for my IT/business experience and past college courses.

I currently attend Touro University International. I am in the military and have limited time to go to school so I've been taking classes online at this university. I don't know if they would transfer classes that are so old but they do evaluate experience to a degree. I don't have as much experience as you do but I did have some credits transferred for my degree. Hope this helps.

I'm thinking of joining an on-line college but I have been receiving various viewpoints about it. Some say businesses don't view it as actually attending a real college. I'm clue less and need some good answers.

If a person is going to pursue an online degree, I always recommend that they attend an online program at a community college or state university. The biggest benefit of this method is the degree conferred to an online student is no different than a degree conferred to an on-campus student. An employer wouldn't even know that you finished your degree online unless you told them.

While for-profit schools like University of Phoenix or ITT Tech may provide a valid education, I recommend that you don't go to them because of high cost. UoP charges $494 per semester credit hour. A typical community college will charge $100 or less. A state university will typically charge between $100 and $250 per semester credit hour. I discourage people from attending ITT Tech because they are accredited by the ACICS. State universities and community colleges will probably not accept ITT Tech credits in transfer or for admittance into graduate programs.

my daughter is a high school sophmore and a very advanced students, and is interested in being an international trade specialist. A friend suggested that she take an online course in business management. Is she old enough, and about how much does it cost?

Online college degree programs are expensive and not all of them are accredited. Your daughter can attend summer school and graduate one semester early, so that she can attend college in January instead of waiting till Fall.

There are also some advanced honors courses available in high school that are accepted as college credit. Her high school counselor will have more info on that.

I recommend community colleges for the first two years of college, as it is offers more individual attention and is less expensive that a four year university, and the credits offered are the same so they will transfer. An academic advisor can assist you with this.
