Which online MBA program is the cheapest?

I'm thinking about working on an MBA online. Which universities have the cheapest tuition? I'm guessing the average is around $22,000.

Does anyone have any experience getting their degree from an international university? I've heard those are a lot cheaper, but I'm not sure whether they are accredited in the US.

Take a look at justcolleges.com, they have a lot of good information on online mba colleges. You can even request for information from several different colleges for free and this will probably give you an idea.

Some of the top colleges are Capella, Strayer and University of Phoenix.

My school is both regionally and nationally accredited but its MBA program lacks AACSB accreditation. Can I still use my degree? Will employers hire me? I am very content with what my school offers but it does matter if I can use my degree in the future and it will not be just another piece of paper.

AACSB is the highest accreditation a business school can obtain. You can still use your degree, but if you want to truly be competitive I would go to an AACSB accredited school…you have to look at your degree as an investment, as it will pay you back in the future. Good Luck!

How important is it that an MBA program be accredited by the AACSB? Do employers care? Or is this mainly for those who wish to pursue a career in academia

Honestly, I found that unless you're going to the top MBA schools~ Wharton, Yale, Harvard etc. It really doesn't matter. I've seen people with online degrees from Thomas Edison or Phoenix online obtain executive management positions.

ACBSP accredited DBA vs AACSB accredited MBA?

I am thinking about getting an MBA and eventually a DBA. I dont meet the requirements to get accepted in an AACSB accredited MBA program. However there are quite a few ACBSP programs that I qualify for. Should I go for an ACBSP DBA program? Will that look as good on a resume as an AACSB accredited MBA?

The two degrees are not comparable. The DBA is more similar to a Ph.D. The requirements for an MBA are an undergraduate degree in any field. Beyond that, schools require an admission test such as the GMAT and many prefer work experience, but AACSB accreditation does not impose restrictions on which students accredited schools can accept.

I suggest you consult the Official MBA Guide, a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, etc), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. MBA Programs in Sydney?

I’m hoping to move to Sydney this February to begin an MBA program. I’m from the US and I’m not going to make a trip there before deciding which school so I’m relying on the internet for research. Honestly, I’m just hoping to get in somewhere. I’m looking at the University of Western Sydney and the University of Technology Sydney. I know I wouldn’t get into the University of New South Wales, but are there any others? I graduated with honors from an accredited USA university with a bachelors of business administration. I have good work experience, however I did not do well on the GMAT so I need a school who doesn’t focus much on it. Thank you for your time!!

The only others are in regional NSW, not Sydney itself:

Uni of Newcastle – not far from Sydney, worth considering? You can live half way on the Central Coast.
Southern Cross Uni
Uni of New England
Uni of Wollongong – also not far from Sydney

Some Australian unis have MBA’s by distance education/online also. That’s how I did mine because I was living in a rural area at the time. I found it to be perfectly OK (Uni of Southern Qld).

applying to an MBA program with a degree from American Military University?

I am applying to get accepted into an MBA program from an AACSB school. I currently have a BA Management and will soon have a MA Management from American Military University, which is regionally and nationally accredited but is DETC school. Do AACSB schools usually accept transfer credits from this school?

A lot of MBA programs don’t accept transfer credits from anywhere (though they may let you place out of certain classes through testing). You should investigate this with the individual programs you’re planning on applying to.

What is the best outside the U.S.A. MBA that is equivalent to a Regionally Accredited U.S.A. MBA?

I am looking for the best MBA outside the U.S.A. that is equal (so-to-speak) to a Regionally Accredited MBA in the U.S.A. and that has the following characteristics:

1. Is completely online/distance-learning; that is, can be completed without ever physically going to the institute.

2. Whose total cost (of the program) includes textbooks; and there is no such "cost" for taking exams. In other words, a MBA that doesn't have any other "extra" cost besides the program cost and graduation cost(s).

3. Whose total cost isn't over-priced like the MBAs in the U.S.A. ; that is, whose total cost is affordable to just about anyone.

4. Whose MBA is regarded respectively, in general; that is, like I had said before, a MBA that is as respectable as a U.S.A. Regionally Accredited MBA. Preferably, accredited by AACSB.

Look, I know what I am asking for is either super difficult or impossible to find… But at least, close to the above requirements. I would greatly appreciate any help!

That's a tough one. What you don't mention is where you plan on working. If you plan on working in the US, I think you can find a regionally accredited MBA in the US that meets your criteria, such as the University of Illinois or Penn State, which are completely online.

Otherwise, you will have to have an equivalency from the AACRAO or a similiar organization to prove to your US employer that it is equivalent to a US regionally accredited degree.

US accreditation is confusing to alot of people, like the other poster. AACSB is not a national accreditor (which is a lower level of institutional accreditation), but rather a programmatic accreditor that accredits a very small number of MBA programs (<5%). It's a nice to have, but by no means a need to have.

MBA Programs Help Please?
I want to do an MBA. I have a couple of questions:

1) Due to my freshman/softmore years in college and my lack of ANY capability in mathematics type courses, I know that I cannot get into a Harvard, for example. So, I’ve been looking at some lesser-known, yet still fully accredited (by the US Dept of Education) schools. Will these still be acceptable to an employer?

2) Are online MBA programs acceptable? I don’t want people to think I got a diploma mill degree.

The US department of education does not accredit any schools — let alone MBA programs. There are accrediting agencies that do this. It is actually very easy for schools to get some sort of accreditation — which is why University of Phoenix dupes so many people into enrolling.

My advice is to look at US News and BusinessWeek. Both magazines rank B-Schools and post their results on their web sites.

If you could get into a top 15 school, you would be able to get a salary in the $120K per year range. If you can get into a ranked program not in the top 15, then you can get a salary at or near $100K per year. However, in my opinion getting an MBA from a school that is not ranked will do little more for you than getting a bachelor’s degree in English. Getting an MBA from an Online School may actually hurt you. Many employers will throw away resumes from their graduates.

If you did well as a Junior and Senior & get decent GMAT scores, then think about applying to some decent schools. You will need to address your poor performance — but if you did well later, you have a convincing argument that you are capable of a lot more.

I did incredibly poorly as a Freshman — but did well after that. I was able to get into highly ranked graduate programs at Duke, Minnesota, Cornell and Berkeley. I have an MBA from Duke and a PhD in Business from Berkeley.

I'm not familiar with MIC; it's probably a private institution and may not be affiliated with a Canadian University..
