Tuesday Jun 2, 2009

Suppose you live in the US and you have decided that a life as a legal malpractice attorney is for you. Lawyers and doctors – does that bring a whole new meaning to “show me the money”, or what? But don’t spend that money yet. Learn more about becoming a legal malpractice attorney by following the steps below.

Life as a malpractice attorney is often a very hectic one, and therefore you may have to be prepared to pass on other things in life. This is not some kind of “get rich quick” scheme by a long shot. If you want to try and change the world one small bit at a time and go into a reasonably respectable profession, be a medical malpractice attorney.

Off To University

In order to be eligible for the appropriate education for medical malpractice license you will (in the US) need to have graduated high school or have passed a general educational development test (GED). After that you need to get a college degree in pre-law. You need to accomplish the above before you can focus on studies to be a malpractice attorney.

Law colleges requires students to pass an examination referred to as LSAT before accepting you. It is very similar to an ordinary SAT, but in a higher academic version. Then you send these test scores, along with papers from your previous schools to the law college in question.

Then, after you are accepted to the legal college or university, you will want to do your best at two things. First and most obviously you will need to pass all course needed for the degree, which on average takes three years to accomplish. In The Meantime, you also need to get a job at a law firm or legal department of a company. It’s best if you can get a foot in the door at a firm that is full of malpractice attorneys.

Off To Build Your Career

The final stage is to take the appropriate bar (from “barrister”) exam for your location. You would not be the first person to fail first time around, so don’t worry about that. Your university will know where you need to take your exam. Having come this far, you can certainly congratulate yourself on a work well done. Then get ready to really go to work.

You then need to get a job as a malpractice attorney in a firm specializing in your area of expertise. Although the firm you may have worked for while in college may not have a job for you, the experience they have provided you with will surely be of big help. If you need to move to another city or state in order to find work, then that is probably what you will have to do.
