Is An Education More Important?

Thursday Dec 31, 2009

Many college students regularly lament that they simply have to acquire satisfactory university credits so they could earn a degree and simply push on.  This ‘just-get-by’ attitude is really discouraging and disappointing, particularly to tutors who need to give scholars useful education instead of a degree.  You should be wondering by this point, is there a difference between getting education and getting an online doctorate degree

To start with, university degree is simply a illustration.  It’s a certification attesting that an individual has essentially studied in a variety of helpful fields.  It also indicates that the individual has achieved a target level of subject mastery.  In contrast, education is everything any degree is representing.  It should be accepted as the more vital between the 2.  That’s as it is education that would help individuals get on with the real-life challenges in the office.  It is education that would make anyone rise from above the rest.

Historically, scholars are often told that earning a college degree is the genuine secret to success.  When success is tackled, it might mean money and personal.  There are already many studies that show how individuals with university education are in a position to win the workplace.  They’re often the ones earning significantly higher incomes through their lifetime compared to people who are without degrees.  Information like these makes anyone infer that university degree is just leading to a difference.  Therefore, many scholars believe that to be ready to achieve success, college degrees are essential.

If you want to make a change, you should get into the realisation that it is university education that really makes the difference, not the degree.  Is there a difference between the two apart from the abovementioned?  There is.  It is possible that an individual reach a university degree without real education.  It’s also possible that an individual get real education without earning a degree.  Are you confused?

Many college kids just intend to pass subjects and get on to earning the sought-after degree.  They do not pay much attention to learning and a lot of the lessons they take in class are not kept.  However , they could still pass exams and earn good grades at projects.  In the end, they could still manage to graduate from college without much seriousness.

On the other hand, a student may take university courses seriously that they are practically changing and using the lessons learned to daily life circumstances.  They might have learned lessons thru the heart.  So, retention is no problem.  {However ,} due to unlikely and inevitable circumstances, they could not be in a position to finish college and earn a degree ( generally due to money restraints ).

So which is better, achieving a degree or attaining education?  At first, everybody would say it is both.  But a closer and deeper take on the issue would steer you to a single possible answer : it is the education.  {However ,} the world and the workplace are yet to learn from this awareness.  Nowadays, degrees are still thought of as synonymous to education.  Folk have yet to see firms and potential bosses looking more closely into this discussion.

For the meantime, individuals with both a degree and education are on the winning end.  It is just important that you open up to learn more while you are studying to earn a degree.  You may have both if you only would be more major in finishing your school and learning basic professional talents.

Know More About What The Scholastic Aptitude Test Is All About

Thursday Dec 24, 2009

For the continuous efforts of enhancing a student’s ability once they enter College, more and more educational programs are conducted and formalized to make sure that there will be an increase or improvement for every College freshman each school year. Now with the presence of the SAT, or more commonly known as Scholastic Aptitude Test, more students are given a higher chance of having better knowledge and being prepared once they enter into the College level.

SAT, or what is now known to be the SAT Reasoning Test, is a standardized examination taken by every student in the United States before they enter College. SAT is owned and developed by the College Board, a non-profit organization that aims to help future College students to be prepared through an examination given to them testing whether they are ready for College or not.

The Scholastic Aptitude Test is divided into three main categories, namely the Critical Reading, Mathematics and the Writing section. The Critical Reading part includes 3 subparts, two of which are a 25-minute section and the other is a 20-minute section. The Critical Reading mostly involves sentence completions and questions on reading passages Next is the Mathematics part which is also divided into 3 subsections: two 25-minute sections and one 20-minute section. In order to save time, students are now allowed to use calculators in solving the problems faster than with computing it manually. Lastly is the Writing part, which is divided into 2 subparts: 1 multiple choice and the other is the essay writing portion. The essay covers 30% of the total score of the Writing section, while 70% goes to the multiple choice part. The writing section is formulated to be able to test the student’s writing skills.

There is a more meaningful explanation why the SAT exam has arrived at these three main categories. The Critical Reading is included for the purpose of testing as well as enhancing the student’s vocabulary. The Mathematics sections, which is also known as Quantitative or Calculation Section is provided to test the students skill in calculating, problem solving and analysis. The Writing part, which was already stated earlier, is included to test and measure the student’s writing skills.

It will take three hours and forty-five minutes to finish the SAT exam. Although it usually takes longer, more than 4 hours because of added procedures such as preparation and distribution of materials, orientation and filling out forms. At the present, you have to pay to be able to sit the Scholastic Aptitude Test.

There has been some issues accompanied with the need to take the SAT for future College students, including the price needed to pay as a fee. Since it has already been approved and finalized, the exam is taken by all College aspirants in the United States. It is constantly showing improvement with regards to a students capability of entering College and surviving with flying colors. Compared to high school it is obvious that a campus life has many differences and add-ups. It is true, you don’t have to go to class all the time but the more you skip class, the more poorly you’ll do. You will have to do the reading and learn it on your own because it will be heavier and tougher material. You are responsible of deadlines and tests as the only thing that matters in college is the end result, not the effort. Your parents will only be able to guide you because for the most part of college campus life, you are your own adult.

Open Prepaid Tuition Accounts | Future Debt Relief for Parents

Monday Dec 21, 2009

Parents worried about college funds

Parents worried about debt relief in the future may see their children’s college funds as a huge obstacle to overcome. A lot of parents get nervous due to the economy, and begin wondering how to get their children to college. Mary Connelly, a single parent in Boston, Mass., said, “I can barely handle the cost of sending my children to private schools now. I don’t see how I’m going to manage in 10 years from now considering tuition goes up every year.”

For parents planning college education funding, there are options available. One is the prepaid tuition plans that are available in several states. The plans work to allow parents to purchase schooling, at current tuition rates, and then apply it to future costs. Parents can also defer income tax on earnings until the money is used.

Prepaid tuition plans can be very effective for a lot of parents, because they differ from college savings plans. College savings plans offer higher return rates that are not influenced by college tuition. The return can be greater, there’s a risk that the investment can lose value over time.

How prepaid tuition works

Each state dictates how the prepaid tuition account works, but the general rules are that parents and relatives are allowed to purchase tuition at today’s cost. They can pay the cost up front or in installments. The investments are guaranteed to compensate for higher costs of college in the future. It’s a great way for parents to put money towards their own debt relief, retirement savings, and also putting aside for their children. The other benefit is that anyone can contribute to the plan at any time.

Questions to ask

There are some issues to be sorted through when investing in prepaid tuition plans. Parents should be well versed in the following:

  • Can the account be transferred? When can it be transferred?
  • When is the enrollment period?
  • What costs does the plan cover?
  • What is the penalty if parents stop paying?
  • Is there a difference between choosing an out of state or private college?
  • How do taxes get affected?

What are the risks?

Though prepaid tuition accounts have benefits, there are things to consider. First, the returns on these account pale in comparison to stocks. If parents start saving for college when a child is in grade school, stocks can be a better option. Normally the prepaid tuition account is an option parents choose when they have waited until the child is in high school to address college expenses. By that time, stocks probably won’t have matured enough to pay for college.

Prepaid tuition accounts also lack some flexibility. Out of state enrollment could hamper the benefits of the account. That’s why it’s important for parents to understand the nuances of the plan they choose and any “what ifs” that are involved. Another issue is if children opt to not go to college. Withdrawing the funds and not spending it on tuition can bring a severe penalty. The accounts are notorious for strict refund policies.

College funding in the future

The prepaid tuition plan is a great option for parents who are worried about the rising costs of college in the future. They offer peace of mind for parents and give them other options with their money while their children are finishing school. They won’t have to scramble to fund college, and they can put their money toward debt relief, retirement savings and bill management. Prepaid tuition plans if well researched and chosen wisely can be very useful.
